Learning

If anyone thinks he has learned all he can ever learn, he is deceiving himself for no one can ever exhaust the vast amount of knowledge that this world has to offer. Therefore, learning should be a lifelong pursuit.

My Thought

Power struggles can be seen in every stratum of society in every naton in the world because we live in a power-hungry world. Is it any wonder then that peace is lacking in this world?

Being True to Ourselves

I wonder how many of us can honestly say that we have been true to ourselves? Being true to ourselves involves following our hearts. Being true to ourselves means we don't necessarily follow what others expect of us.
I believe that it's by being true to ourselves that we can truly follow our dreams, instead of someone else's dreams for us.

Letting Go

Sometimes trying to get something 'desperately' may cause it to 'escape' from our hands/lives. Hence, it may be wise to just let go for when we choose to let go, it may somehow find its way back to us. I think life is such that the more we 'cling on' to something (or even someone), the more it (or that someone) may 'escape' from our lives.

Heart Knowledge vs Head Knowledge

Is head knowledge more important than heart knowledge? Where our knowledge of God is concerned, I believe it's more important to have a heart knowledge of God.

There are scholars (yes, scholars) who have an in-depth knowledge of the Bible but who are not Christians. If head knowledge is more important, then why aren't these scholars Christians?

What do I mean by 'heart knowledge'? Basically, heart knowledge of God is gained through our experiences of Him (His faithfulness, His love, etc). Without that, we can be Christians for many years but not having a REAL and STRONG relationship with Him. If Christians are to impact the world for Him and for the good of mankind, then genuine heart knowledge of Him is foundational and fundamental.

The Power of Creative Imagination

Children are naturally imaginative. If only we can be like little children, we may be better able to engage our imagination to create a future for ourselves according to what we really want. Sadly, as we grow older, our imaginative ability seems to wane. It will probably take a very disciplined person to consciously engage his imagination on a regular basis to create what he wants for his future.

Letting Go

Letting go of anything (can be relationships, goals, etc) that no longer serves a useful purpose in one's life or that is detrimental to one's well-being is necessary in order to move forward in life.

The 3 Per Cent Rule

I am now reading a new book entitled "Change Your Life" by John Bird. In this book, he talks about the 3% rule, which is basically about taking small steps towards one's dreams or whatever one wants to do in life. By breaking down whatever one wants to do into small manageable steps, the goal/dream/etc will not seem too daunting.

Abraham Lincoln

I am very impressed with this great man - former US President Abraham Lincoln - when I read about his life. What makes me so impressed with him is that he had a 'Never Say Die' kind of attitude. He failed a great deal in life but he never gave up. Instead, he persevered and finally became the well-loved former President of USA.

May this great man teach us the value and importance of perseverance in the face of great tribulations, uncertainties, etc, etc. There is always light at the end of the tunnel if we do not give up. :)

Reflection: Man's Greatness

A man's greatness is not determined by how successful he is in life, but rather by how much he has contributed to mankind. How much he has contributed to mankind would determine how fulfilled he feels in life.

This is a Good One

Tell me how a young man uses his little ragged edges of time after his day's work is done, during his long winter evenings - what he is revolving in his mind at every opportunity - I will tell you what that young man's future will be.
~~ Orison Swett Marden

How true it is! What we think - what we allow our minds to think - is so critical that it actually can determine what our future will be like to quite a large extent. If we consistently allow garbage to fill our minds, our future will probably be one that is filled with 'garbage'. On the contrary, if we consistently fill our minds with thoughts of love, positive thoughts, happy thoughts, thoughts of hope, etc, we can be 100% sure that our future will be a great one in time to come! :)

A Quote & My Thoughts

Conversation enriches the understanding, but solitude is the school of genius.
~~by English author Edward Gibbon

In the fast-paced modern society in which we live, we would probably think to have solitude is a luxury that we cannot afford. I wonder how many of us actually recognise the value of solitude - value to our health, our mental/emotional well-being and value in terms of living a life of fulfillment?

I like to think deeply about life issues/meaning of life and so probably that's why I value and practise solitude.

DREAMS

If we are given the chance to make our dreams come true, how willing are we to make the inevitable but necessary sacrifices?

If I'm given such a chance, I will surely grab it becos I will only pass through this life onc

It's a rainy day today. It's been raining since morning. In the past, whenever it rained, it would most likely create a moody kind of feeling in me. But thank God, the rain does not cause me to feel moody today. :)

Thank God!

I am thankful that I have been practising my piano every evening for the past 4 days. It's really an achievement (all glory to God!) cos I am not a disciplined person at all.

I am thankful that I have been putting and/or fine-tuning melodies to lyrics I have written the past 2 days or so, which is also an achievement (all glory to God again!) in view of my lack of discipline.

Being Still

Being still is something that I struggle with, for I am quite a hyperactive person. It is something that I need to learn nevertheless. Today, I am learning to be still before God. :)

Help Me Find a Way Back to You.....

Thank God for this new song that I have just written. :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I went for a worship workshop (conducted by Roma Waterman from Australia) yesterday. Hmmm...it was a good learning experience...it's so amazing that quantum physics has shown that there are sounds in everyone of us...ie. our DNAs are made up of sounds (or vibrations) so to speak...
Some sounds were being played during the workshop...sounds that have been transcribed from human beings (one is an AIDS patient), swan, dolphin, stars, Jupiter and Saturn. Wow...it's unbelievable that a mouse's DNA makeup, when transcribted into sounds, is a piece of classical music!!! The sound transcribed from a dolphin, on the other hand, sounds to me like a Chinese sentimental piece. And HEAR THIS...the sound transcribed from a human being is a grand symphony!!! But the sound transcribed from an AIDS patient sounds really melancholic....
The speaker, Roma also shared on how to recognise the sounds
of nations.
Hmmm...this workshop is really worth its value...Thank God!
Reflection on a Quote from 'Breaking Barriers' by Danny Cox
"Your life is like a book. The title page is your name, the preface your introduction to the world. The pages are a daily record of your efforts, trials, pleasures, discouragement, and achievements. Day by day your thoughts and acts are being inscribed in your book of life. Hour by hour, the record is being made that must stand for all time. Once the word 'finis' must be written, let it then be said of your book that it is a record of noble purpose, generous service, and work well-done."
- Grenville Kleiser, author of Training for Power and Leadership
The above is a quote from the book that I am still reading. It's my prayer that at the end of my journey on earth when the book of my life is open, it will show 'a record of noble purpose, generous service, and work well-done'.
It feels good to be in victory mode. :) It certainly also feels good to know that there are people out there who care enough about me to support me in prayer. :) I'm thankful to God for such dear people!
