I played one of my own songs just now, which I composed years ago. The music sounded nice to me.:) When I first composed it, I didn't quite like it. Probably at that time, the perfectionist streak in me was still quite dominant, and that was why I didn't quite like it. Or maybe because at that time, I still had a lot of spiritual and emotional clutter, which made it difficult for me to appreciate my own musical talent.

以前我为这首歌谱的曲，自己听了并不满意。也可能因为这个原因而好久没弹这首歌曲了。刚刚弹了好几遍, 觉得还蛮好听的。刚才也为这首歌作了结尾的部份。虽然结尾很短，但是我个人相当喜欢。现在只剩下前奏的部份了。其实还有好多首歌需要修改的。有些可能是在音乐方面，有些可能是在词的部份，而有些则是在词曲双方面。所以在短期内，可能不会写新歌。

Rain on Me

I went to Trumpet Praise today to get a gift for a friend who is going to be baptised later this month. I decided to get her an album by Tammy Trent. In this particular album, there is a song entitled "Rain On Me." Incidentally, I have written a song with the same title. I have heard some of Tammy's songs on Shoutlife.com and they are simply beautiful. So, you may want to check out her albums at Shoutlife.com.

I have just penned two Chinese songs, one of which is the above. It is a song about God's protection from evil people's scheming ways. I pray that it will especially minister to people who have to face such people daily, which can be a mental torture.

Oh my...I just realised that I have written more English songs than Chinese songs! I have always thought that I have written more Chinese songs. :P

Out of all the listed songs, there are about 11 songs that are without melodies yet or with melodies that need fine-tuning. Hopefully, I can compose melodies for two songs before I start my new module at the bible college later this month.

I plan to write Cantonese songs (and possibly Hokkien songs) in the near future. In fact, I have written a few Cantonese songs (secular pop) before. But when I moved to the current residence, the song sheets (loose sheets) somehow got lost. :(

May God alone receive all the glory for all the songs that I have written! :)

I just felt 'inspired' to pen this song a short while ago. It is a Christian song, which I hope will bring comfort to weary souls.

Recently, I wrote two songs entitled Breakthrough Prayer and Breaking Free from the Shackles of My Past. The former is a Christian song while the latter is meant to be a secular piece. I pray that these songs will minister to those who need breakthroughs in their lives.

Sometimes, things may seem so bad or situations may seem so hopeless. But if we try to look on the positive side, they may not be so bad or so hopeless after all. Even if they really are, there will always be a glimpse of hope.

I have finally completed the melody for a song that I wrote a few years ago, and I am working towards composing melodies or completing the melodies for other songs that I have written. Thank God!

Music has always been a part of my life. It is my dream to compose songs -both Christian and secular pop songs - that will inspire hope and bring honour to God's name. Hopefully, I will be able to produce an album of Christian songs and another album of secular pop songs (both English and Chinese titles) sometime next year.
