Food for Thought

The important thing is to find songs that speak to you.
~ Germaine Yong (Quoted from this link: https://diaryofabipolarsingaporeangirl.wordpress.com/2015/12/08/qa-music-therapy-and-mental-health/)

True...There are times when I am feeling down and songs that I have written suddenly begin to play in my mind, which really help to lift up my mood.

Decluttering

I think I am now ready for love.:p I have done quite a fair bit of decluttering lately. And somehow decluttering of the physical environment seems to help me remove my emotional clutter layer by layer.

Food for Thought

Grief is a process. It can't be rushed. It can't be pushed. It takes its time...As long as grief keeps moving and flowing, it is a healthy process of letting go...(We) should not try to push (our) grief away, even if it seems to come at "inconvenient" times or take (us) by surprise. This is a healthy and necessary process of letting go.

Decluttering

In the past few weeks, I had been trying to remove some clutter in my room. And it so happened that I decided to spend the last two days and today 'decluttering' my inner being. And you know what? Yesterday, I decided to buy myself a book and one book seemed to be 'calling out' to me. Can you believe that the book is about decluttering one's physical, emotional and mental spaces?! All these might seem to be coincidental, but I don't think so. Decluttering must take place in order for a new life to be birthed and for healing to take place.

Mental Illness

I have two friends who are schizophrenic, whom I have known for many years. Their families have put up with their 'schizophrenic attacks' for more years than I have known them.

I can't imagine how life is like living under the same roof with a family member who suffers from schizophrenia. To say that it's tough is an understatement (at least from my point of view). To remain sane living with such a family member over a prolonged period of time is a major challenge, if not a near impossibilty.

Although I know that I am supposed to reach out to the mentally ill, I am no longer passionate about reaching out to them. One of the aforesaid friends has worn my patience thin by calling me frequently when she has 'schizophrenic attacks' (even in the middle of the night). In the past, I would have obliged her without due regard to my own well-being. However, over the years, I have learnt that self care is very important and so I am now practically avoiding her calls.

If I am not able to practise self care, then how can I really care for other people without sabotaging my (working) relationship or friendship with them? Therefore, I believe that genuine care for a fellow human being must start with self care regardless of whether one is working in the helping profession or not.

Mental Illness

I have always thought that women are generally more prone to mental illness because they are emotionally more vulnerable. Just now I saw a mentally ill young man (who appeared to be in his mid thirties), which brought to mind the number of mentally ill men whom I came across in the past one year. What could cause these people (and many others) to go bonkers? Is it extreme suffering or pain? Is it mental or emotional anguish that could find no outlet? On reflection, I am thankful that I have the mental & emotional fortitude to withstand the many trials that have come my way thus far.

Benefits of Using Huang Yang Mu Comb

I watched an infotainment programme on xinmsn.com yesterday. In this episode, one of the guests, Bryan mentioned about the benefits of using this particular type of comb. According to him, using this type of comb could help in blood circulation, prevent stroke, aid in hair growth, etc. So, I am going to get one for myself! :)

I Will Be Well

I have just composed the chorus of this song. I like the melody very much. :) The reason why I have started writing this song is because yesterday I suddenly recalled a dream that I had many years ago. In that dream, I saw three groups of people: the blind, the prisoners and the mentally unwell. At that time, it seemed that God wanted me to serve these three groups of people. I have already served the first two groups, and so I might be serving the third group of people in the near future. There is also a possibility that I might continue writing songs of healing.
