Lessons Learnt

1. You could be the best employee in your department/company. But as long as your supervisor does not like you or feels that you are a threat to him/her (because of his/her own insecurities), you can expect that he/she would rather keep those who are incompetent or lousy than to keep you.

2. There is no guarantee that you will get to keep your job or get a promotion at work just because your boss likes you (in the romantic sense).

3. If your boss likes you (in the romantic sense) but if you do not reciprocate, you can expect that he/she may turn nasty or he/she may not want to keep you, even if you are the best employee.

4. It may not be a good thing to be liked by your supervisor/boss, if he/she is of the opposite gender or if he/she is a homosexual.

5. Being pretty/handsome or charming may not be a good thing, unless you are prepared to use your good looks or charm to your advantage and face the possibility of betraying your conscience in the process.

Conforming to office norms that are clearly wrong is just not right, even if you conform because of peer pressure or because you want to be accepted. Conforming, in this context, can eventually kill your conscience and bring on judgement. It's only a matter of time...

There are times when I wish I am not as 'conscience-conscious' as I am, because not being overly 'conscience-conscious' may make it a lot easier for me to make a lot of decisions in life...尤其是关于选择男朋友、终生伴侣方面。。。sigh...

Human Trafficking



It is mind-blowing and sad to think of how human beings - particularly men - can be so wicked to enslave women and children in prostitution through human trafficking. Something needs to be done for these poor women and children who are forced into prostitution!!! Are the law enforcers doing enough to stop human trafficking? This morning, a colleague was telling me that there are a lot of women from China who are being trafficked into Singapore and are forced into prostitution. Sigh...

Extramarital Affairs

The place I work at seems to be a breeding ground for extramarital affairs. The women seem so ready to seduce the men and the men seem so happy to be at the receiving end of seduction. Don't they know there are serious consequences? Don't they know that there's a heavy price to pay? Don't they know that their children and/or their children's children will have to bear the consequences of their sins? I'm against extramarital affairs!!!

Men generally are such scary creatures! They could be having flings or one-night stands with men and/or women although they are either married or attached. Some (or maybe many) could be legally married in another country rather than in their country of origin and so it might not be possible to really know for sure if they are married. Many of them (I believe) could be having flings or one-night stands overseas and many (I believe) have mistresses overseas. That is at least true in the case of Singaporean men. It's so scary, isn't it?! Why can't men just be contented with having a wife or a girlfriend? Is it because of their ego? Or is it because they are wired that way? Don't they have any conscience at all???!!!

正所谓做得正、站得稳，所以有必要这么怕恶势力吗？为什么有蛮多同事这么怕得罪我的老板？虽然她有人在背后撑腰，但毕竟她是走后门进来当老板的，而并非凭她自己的本事。所以，为什么要怕她呢？ 对，她是真的很可怕；但是只要你问心无愧，就没有必要怕她啊。

I am the only one in my department who doesn't play politics and I have missed out on opportunities, etc, etc as a result. But at least my conscience is clear and my integrity is intact. I am sure someday I will have an employer who values my integrity as well as recognises my ability and appreciates my worth.

A new colleague is really getting on my nerves. Her sheer arrogance and apparent superiority complex really put me off! She is so new to this field but yet is so unwilling to learn. (Why ask for my views if she is so unreceptive? She ought to learn the hard way!) I am not obligated to teach her what I know and so she ought to be thankful that I am willing to share with her what I know. I could have sabotaged her by deliberately giving her wrong information, etc, etc. But I didn't and I won't (because my conscience is still intact) and so she ought to be thankful that she has met me and not someone who is evil and who intends to do her in! She's just TOTALLY unfit to be working in this field. (She should go back to her old field and be a blessing, rather than staying put where she is a misfit and be a curse.) Damn it!

Is it right to use public funds and money raised through donations to feed those who are lazy and irresponsible? Is it right to use taxpayers' money to pay and keep the lazy and the irresponsible in the name of compassion? Is it true compassion in action when we choose to close one eye to what we know is wrong? Is our conscience more important or is keeping peace more important? Is righteousness no longer an admirable quality?

Violence Against Women Has to be Stopped!!!



She was a student
She was 23
Her fault some people say because she boarded the wrong bus
And oh yeah
SHE WAS A GIRL
... Six men raped her one by one and then used an iron rod to tear her vagina
Small intestine and large intestine came out
They left her to die on the road
Naked
Wounded
Exposed
Devastated
What’s more is that no one even turned to look at her
No one even bothered to throw a shawl on the ill-clad
ill-fated girl
She can never live a normal married life again
She Went into coma five times since 16th December
She was unconscious
Critical and hasn't been able to stop crying
But don’t worry
She wasn't your sister
She wasn't your daughter
But she could be. The brutality has to stop right here guys
These people deserve capital punishment for their heinous

Rest in Peace♥ and we pray that her killers get the WORST punishment possible

I can never understand why the six men could be so brutal that they would do such wicked things to a defenceless young woman. It was already bad enough that they gang-raped her. Why didn't they stop at that? Why did they go further by using an iron rod to tear her vagina and throwing her out of the bus? Why didn't anyone on the bus intervene? Why didn't any passers-by go to her aid? I can't imagine myself being a witness of such acts of brutality and not doing anything to help the victim.

I just read  an article in this link:  http://sg.news.yahoo.com/indian-gang-rape-student-fighting-her-life-060048532.html. It's so shocking that men could be so sick and evil. Why didn't other passengers on the bus intervene? Why didn't the bus driver do something about it? Were they so devoid of conscience that they chose not to do anything about it? How could anyone turn a blind eye to the plight of the girl? Sigh...

A true follower of any religion will never bully or take advantage of another person. Likewise, he (she) will never initiate sins against a fellow human being.  I despise those who call themselves Christians but yet are so 'unchristian' in the way they treat fellow Christians and people of other faiths.  Even though I am far from being godly, but at least I will never bully or take advantage of another person. Neither will I initiate sins against another person.

I can't understand why a male colleague, who has been harrassing me, is still unrepentant. Even though he is a Christian, he doesn't seem to have any conscience at all. What is the point of him being nice (or pretending to be nice) to his wife in front of others and pretending to be a doting husband when he is, in reality, not faithful? What is the point of him going to church week after week when there is no inner transformation after so many years as a Christian? Likewise, in the case of my flirtatious female colleague, what is the point of her going for mass week after week, when her heart is so hardened to the point that she no longer feels that she has done anything wrong when indeed she has?

Is my big boss really so 'sex starved' that he would do anything for any woman who knows how to flirt with him??? Does he have any conscience or integrity at all? If I were him, I wouldn't have given 4x increment to a staff who often skives at work and who seriously lacks a sense of responsibility. In fact, I don't think such a staff ought to be given any increment. Seriously speaking, I won't keep such a staff if I were him.

Character is DEFINITELY a more important factor to consider when hiring someone than whether the person has the necessary skill. For me - when I have my own business - I wouldn't want to employ a lazy bum who has no integrity and who has no sense of conscience.
