My Thoughts

No matter how experienced a person is in a particular job/field, there'll always be things that he doesn't know pertaining to that particular job/field. So it's ok to admit that you don't know certain things (even things that may be expected of you to know). There's no need to pretend that you know when you actually don't. It takes a person who is humble to admit that he doesn't know. And it takes a person who knows his own worth and who is self-assured to admit that he doesn't know, even admitting to someone who is new to a particular job/field that he doesn't know certain things. Therefore, to those who feel compelled to prove their own worth to the people around them, I want to say the following: Learn to appreciate your own worth. Work on your self-esteem. And know that each of us is made differently with his own unique talents and capabilities.

Insecurity

You should work on your insecurity issues instead of putting me down (in front of me and behind me time and again) in terms of my looks and the way I dress just because I have more admirers than you.

Self-Esteem

A person's sense of self-esteem (self-worth) should never be dependent on external factors because nothing in this world is permanent.

Appreciating Ourselves

If we appreciate who we are, as opposed to appreciating ourselves for what we do based on someone else's idea of what is good, our performance in the world will come from an inspired and healthy place, rather than from one that is subconsciously seeking the approval and attention of others.

Self-Esteem

Labeling children negatively when they are unable to excel in a traditional school environment can create a weakened sense of self that lasts a lifetime. Labeling children as exemplary when they do fit into the system can be just as damaging, because they might not actually have learned anything more than how to use their inherent abilities to play a system. They may have also learned that they must perform to feel good about themselves. True self-esteem comes not from proving yourself but from knowing yourself - knowing yourself on a deep level and appreciating who you are.

I don't understand why some people feel so insecure that they must over-exert their authority and thus making life hell for those who report to them.

My Thoughts

A person who has low self-esteem tends to feel insecure. Such a person generally tends to be suspicious of the good intentions/goodwill of others, which can cause an unnecessary strain on his/her relationships with others.

Therefore, I think it's important for such a person to work on establishing a healthy sense of self so that he/she will not create strain (which can become permanent) in his/her relationships with others, especially people who mean the world to him/her.

If only such people realise how special they are in the sight of God regardless of their backgrounds, etc, they would be able to have a healthy self-esteem.
