My Thoughts

I enjoy solitude but I do not really enjoy outdoor solitary activities. However, I guess I have to learn to enjoy them, given the fact that there are so many XXX tracking my every movement, et cetera. (They have even gone to the extent of trying to involve my family!) They are really getting on my nerves and seriously speaking, I feel harassed! But it seems that harassment is not considered an offence in Singapore.:( Even if it is an offence and I can therefore lodge a police report, but I do not even trust the police. However, that is beside the point.

Sometimes, I really can't stand those men who have been sending PIs to check on me. It's bad enough that they do that, especially given the fact that I treasure my privacy and I value moments of solitude. Worse still, it seems that at least one of them is trying to get my friends involved. Doesn't he realise that by doing so, he could be jeopardising my friendship with them??? If he really wants to know me better, he should come to me directly, NOT through any third party!!!

My Thoughts

I hope to start doing something for women (and girls), particularly women  (and girls) in neighbouring countries who are in vulnerable situations - women (and girls) who are targets of human trafficking rings. Besides children, women have a special place in my heart (not because I am a woman). Reading news of women (and girls) being sexually exploited or raped stirs up deep emotions of anger in me (not because I was ever in those situations) and I know I have to do something for them. The last time I did volunteering work was some years ago, when I volunteered to tutor a Chinese student from Taiwan. Now that my health is getting better, I think it's time for me to start volunteering again. But before I can do significant amount of volunteering work, I must first make sure that I am in tip-top condition physically.

Food for Thought

An educated man is one who has so developed the faculties of his mind that he may acquire anything he wants...without violating the rights of others.

I can't stand it when a useless and 'sick' man sends PIs to check on me. He has absolutely no right to do that!!!!!!!!!!

Dignity Overdue

I would like to recommend one book to all of you out there. The book is entitled "Dignity Overdue" by John R. Gee and Elaine Ho. I am not sure if it's available anywhere else besides Singapore though. I believe it's a good read for anyone who's interested to know about the plight of foreign workers, particularly in the Singapore context. It might also be of interest to anyone who is keen to help foreign workers in the context of their own countries. Do check it out! :)
